Amy and Dylan’s love story kicked off in the early days of Tinder, back when swiping right was still a novelty. As fate would have it, they quickly discovered they had plenty of mutual friends – known Amy’s sister from school days.

Fast forward to 2019 and Dylan popped the question in one of their favourite places, Hamilton Island, during a family holiday. “It was perfect,” recalls Amy. “We’ve always loved it there so it just felt right.”

Wedding planning initially started for 2020 but like many couples they had to hit pause when Covid-19 rolled in. Meanwhile life had other plans with the arrival of their two little ones – Leo and Winnie. Wanting to wait until their family was complete they set their sights on a 2024 wedding when Winnie would be one year old.

Originally they had their hearts set on tying the knot in Hamilton Island but in the end having all their loved ones there meant more. “We just didn’t want to do it without everyone we love so we kept it local in Geelong,” says Amy. With some solid advice from friends – prioritising a few non-negotiables and cutting costs on things that weren’t as important – they focused on what mattered most – an amazing venue with great food, drinks and a beautiful setting. Barwon Edge was a no-brainer. “We booked it before we even saw the renovations. We just knew it would be amazing because we love Alma and Felix,” adds Amy.
