BRADY + CHRIS

For Brady and Chris it was love at first swipe when they met online. This was 2018 while they were both studying at Deakin University in Geelong. Chris proposed to Brady on a windy day at Jan Juc surf beach. Brady would not get out of the car because it was high tide but Chris was very persistent. They walked down the beach for a little while and it started to rain, so they jumped under the cliff face. This was when Chris asked ‘Will you marry me?’, proposing with a beautiful temporary ring from Earnest and Joe. The answer was ‘Yes’ and nearly 12 months later they eventually had a permanent ring made together.

When asked about the style of the 138-guest wedding, Brady says she is not a very creative person and did not really pick a style for the big day. She knew she wanted bright and colourful flowers, which Lucy from Luv Luce absolutely nailed. The venue – Wye Beach Hotel – was so stunning in itself that it required almost no decoration, making it easy to plan a wedding that was colourful, modern and simple.

The initial plan was for the couple to get married on Chris’s parents property in Swan Hill but they gave up when they saw how complicated the logistics of planning a private-property wedding were. Brady’s mother advised her daughter to reduce the stress and look for some local venues. The Wye Beach Hotel popped up as an ad on Brady’s Instagram and she immediately fell in love with it. Once they booked the venue the rest of the planning was vey easy and they began booking the vendors they wanted for their special day. In hindsight they were fortunate not to be married at Chris’s parent’s property as it had been flooded before the wedding and at the date of the event it was infested with mosquitoes.
