REAL WEDDING
CATHERINE + ASH
PHOTOGRAPHY | LA ESTE FILM
In 2012, fate brought Catherine and Ash together in Melbourne, courtesy of a mutual friend. However, it wasn’t until August 2017 that their romantic journey truly commenced. From the moment they crossed paths, Catherine felt there was something undeniably special about their connection.
Fast forward to the Easter long weekend in 2021, the picturesque marina in Hobart bore witness to their engagement. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the couple celebrated their commitment well into the night, accompanied by dinner and drinks.
Their engagement marked the beginning of a unique planning journey. The disruptive on-and-off lockdowns in 2021 prompted them to delay wedding preparations until the situation had stabilised. In September 2022, they embarked on the whirlwind journey of planning their April 2023 wedding.
Despite the limited timeframe, every detail of their special day fell perfectly into place, thanks to their exceptional vendors. Anna-Marie and Father JayCee orchestrated a beautiful full-mass ceremony at Saint Mary of the Angel Basilica, Geelong. Candice and her team at Provenance Wines ensured that the reception was flawless, earning rave reviews for the food and service. Rachelle from The Posie Place brought their floral vision to life, transforming the venue into a breathtaking setting.
Their wedding, attended by 75 guests, exuded classic elegance with a black-tie dress code. The couple wanted to create lasting memories by having everyone look their best – and they certainly succeeded.
Catherine’s bridal attire, a stunning A-line skirt gown with a daring split, was designed by Elysian Bridal from Raffaele Ciuca, Armadale. She paired it with a cathedral veil with satin trim, Harlo shoes and cherished jewellery from her mother. Ash, impeccably styled by Eddy Elias Menswear in Geelong, donned a black dinner suit with black patent shoes.
The most cherished moments for Catherine and Ash were deeply emotional. Catherine will forever remember the sight of her emotional husband-to-be as she walked down the aisle. As a couple, it was the reception, where their beloved friends and family came together to celebrate their love. The intimate moment in their bridal car, a 1953 Bentley, on the way to Dog Rocks in Batesford for sunset photos, also holds a special place in their hearts.
Their wedding day was all about enjoyment, good food, drinks and dancing. The festivities truly began after their first dance and the celebration continued throughout the night.
Following their joyous wedding, Catherine and Ash embarked on a 10-night honeymoon in Bali, a perfect way to start their married life together.
Their words of wisdom for newly engaged couples are simple but profound. Savour every moment, relax and above all, have fun. Dance your hearts out and celebrate the love that brought you together, for it’s a day you won’t get back.
