EMILY + MATT

Emily and Matt met on Instagram when Matt saw photos of Emily from a mutual friend’s birthday party and he decided to add her. Three weeks later they met in person and life has definitely become a lot sweeter for them ever since!

Matt arranged the proposal months in advance and told her they received an invite to a wedding, giving Emily an invitation with a date, venue, dress code etc. Emily did not want to go because it clashed with a dancing gig she had.

Due to a lockdown, Matt was able to tell her that the event was postponed until Wednesday, November 24, 2021. Emily believed him and made plans for the day, doing her hair and preparing her luggage. As they were driving down the Mornington Peninsula they went past Jackalope Winery and Emily expressed how much she wanted to go there. To her surprise, Matt turned in and said ‘SURPRISE!! We are staying here for your birthday. Emily had her 30th birthday in lockdown and missed out on a family holiday to Palm Cove in Queensland.

After getting to their room, Matt said some friends were going to pick them up for the wedding and that they should wait for them on the terrace. Knowing that Emily likes to have photos taken, he convinced her to do a selfie and as she put her phone down, he dropped onto one knee and proposed to her. Emily was shocked and obviously said yes. They then had an hour with a photographer, getting some amazing photos and drinking Emily’s favourite champagne.

The wedding planning process was relatively smooth and luckily the couple did not have to deal with lockdowns. Emily had everything booked more than six months in advance and chose a black and white theme for a classy look. She found it a little difficult to cull the guest list as both have lots of friends but eventually settled for a 121-guest wedding.
