REAL WEDDING

GEORGIA + JESSE

It was not the ideal first encounter, but this couple managed to overcome a little shock and embarrassment and turn it into a love story.

Straight out of the pages of a Rom-Com, the first time Jesse saw Georgia she was naked. Jesse was at Georgia’s house to help her dad install a spa. While wandering around the house to collect his things before leaving, Jesse strolled past Georgia’s room just after she’d showered and got good glance.

Without a moment’s hesitation and in no uncertain terms, Georgia screamed at Jesse to get out.

A month later Georgia spotted Jesse at a nightclub in Geelong. Now in a more playful frame of mind about the incident, she walked up to Jesse and stated, “You’ve seen me naked.”

This gave Jesse his long-awaited opportunity to apologise, which he did profusely. Soon after they were on the dance floor and without realising it at the time, they were beginning a life together.

Fast forward six years, Georgia and Jesse were wandering around their new block of land discussing the home they planned to build. Jesse got down on one knee and proposed.

As a part time wedding singer, Georgia had collected wedding inspiration from events for years, yet when it came time to plan her own, her vision quickly changed. Originally the couple planned a large engagement party, followed by a smaller wedding 12 months later. However, they soon realised they didn’t want to reduce the guest list for the wedding and a new plan was formulated.

Georgia and Jesse decided to have an intimate, secret wedding the morning of their engagement party and then make a big announcement to all their friends and family that evening.

Suddenly, the time frame was cut to just eight weeks and keeping the wedding a secret proved challenging. It did make things a little stressful at times but thankfully the couple had their close friends and family on hand to help.

The ceremony included 24 guests and Georgia wanted a simple and effortless affair. The bridesmaids selected their own dresses with pink as their only guideline. Georgia’s best friend Alex, a florist, was given full control over all the flower arrangements.

Georgia and Jesse’s wedding outfits followed the same theme: classic, simple and comfortable – a representation of both of them.

Georgia simplified her wedding dress by removing the long, statement sleeves and completed her look with pearls. Jesse wore a pair of Jeans West chinos, the first pair of pants that Georgia had bought for him, combined with pieces from Eddy Elias Menswear.

The ceremony was held on the same spot Jesse proposed. It was a significant moment for the couple as it held so much meaning to be in that location and surrounded by those closest to them. It had been a difficult decision to have such a small ceremony, but the couple knew it was the right decision for them.

For the engagement party and big reveal, Georgia changed into a white cocktail dress by Aje. When the time came, all 220 guests were suitably surprised, just as the couple had intended.

When planning a wedding, Georgia advises couples to stay true to themselves and have the wedding they want, not the one that is expected of them. You should be able to look back at your day and be proud.
