HAYLEY + ANDY

A chance meeting while walking their furry friends was the start of this couple’s love story.

Hayley and Andy met one evening at the Torquay dog beach and both knew something special had begun. They were inseparable from that moment on.

Visits to the dog beach became a regular part of the couple’s daily routine, so when it came time to propose, Andy knew it was the perfect location. Out one evening with Cooper, their Golden Retriever, the couple found themselves on the beach at sunset with no one in sight. Andy seized the moment and surprised Hayley by dropping to one knee and proposing, Hayley’s dream engagement ring in hand. Hayley was blown away.

The couple’s first step in the planning process was booking Truffleduck event coordinators and everything flowed smoothly from there. The wedding theme was classic elegance with a modern twist, and Hayley was thrilled seeing her wedding day vision to life.

Truffleduck was able to recommend suppliers to Hayley and Andy, which made it easy for the couple to find exactly what they wanted to make the day perfect. As the vendors had all worked together before, it helped the day to run smoothly.

The couple chose many traditional elements for their wedding. The ceremony was indoors with a picturesque garden as the backdrop. Hayley walked down a white carpet aisle with her father to the iconic French ballad, La Vie En Rose. The aisle was lined with flowers and candles, leading to beautiful floral plinths, and of course, the man of her dreams.

The colour theme incorporated classic black and white with modern inclusions of sage green and blush pink. Andy and his groomsmen wore black suits with rose lapel pins – white for the groom and blush pink for the groomsmen, which tied in with the bridesmaids’ bouquets.

Hayley surprised herself in her choice of wedding gown, opting for a beaded, ivory gown with puffed sleeves and an open back from And The Veil. It was nothing like she had envisioned but as soon as she tried it on, she knew it was the one.

In her hair Hayley wore a headband made from the same fabric as her dress, which completed her wedding day look perfectly.

The ceremony was personalised with the couple’s own vows, which the celebrant turned into a question / answer format. This clever approach spared both Hayley and Andy the nervous task of reading the vows aloud themselves and helped them relax and enjoy this important moment.

After the ceremony, while out having photos taken, Truffleduck transformed the ceremony space into a sit-down reception for 120 guests.

Although traditional in many ways, the couple wanted to keep their day relaxed and fun and carefully selected music to set the ambiance. Cal Young sang and played acoustic guitar for the ceremony and the early part of the reception, then used his DJ skills to fill the dancefloor and keep the party going late into the evening.

To those at the start of their wedding journey, Hayley says to trust your vendors. They are experts and know how to make your day exactly what you want it to be. Do your research and invest in a quality photographer and videographer who will record your perfect day so that you can relive it for a lifetime.
