REAL WEDDING
JULIA + LLEWYN
PHOTOGRAPHY | TWO WEDDINGS
Julia and Llewyn’s love story began during their high school years but it wasn’t until after year 12 that they embarked on their official journey together. Their engagement might not have been a fairy-tale moment but it was uniquely ‘them’. Amid the Covid-19 lockdowns while lounging at home, Julia mentioned her favourite jewellery designer’s sale. Llewyn’s response of ‘How about you pick whatever ring you want then!’ led to a non-traditional yet perfectly fitting agreement – ‘yep, I guess so!’ While it lacked the grand gestures of a typical proposal, it encapsulated their down-to-earth bond.
Julia’s enthusiasm for wedding planning was contagious. Organised and meticulous, she scoured the online world to find the perfect elements for their big day. Llewyn was content to let her lead, offering advice when needed, creating a balanced partnership. Their wedding embodied their personalities, a relaxed festival style amid rugged bushland, where 160 guests gathered. Vibrant colours punctuated the greenery and Julia’s wedding wardrobe was a delightful trilogy.
The first outfit, a two-piece ensemble, exuded comfort and elegance. A Nookie mini dress with a dramatic bow adorned her second look while a white suit with cutouts in the jacket rounded off her ensemble. Unexpectedly, she donned a fur coat over her outfit to combat the chill.
The most cherished moments of their wedding, each told from their perspective, highlighted the genuine emotions and connections that mattered most. Julia was deeply moved by the vows, a public declaration of their unspoken love and the involvement of their children and nieces made the ceremony truly special. For Llewyn, the simple act of walking hand-in-hand down the aisle through a cloud of confetti, greeted by the beaming smiles of loved ones, was a memory etched in joy.
Their shared desires aligned. Having family and friends present, avoiding noise curfews and extending the celebrations to a recovery day. Their venue, accommodating 80 sleepover guests with the option for camping, transformed the wedding into a weekend of shared happiness.
When asked for advice for newly engaged couples, Julia and Llewyn offer practical wisdom, a testament to their unique journey. They recommend prioritising a honeymoon fund instead of a traditional registry, to ensure the celebration continues beyond the wedding day. Their story is a reminder that love is about embracing what feels right for the two of you, creating your own beautiful tale and valuing the meaningful moments amid life’s unpredictable adventures.
