KATIE + DAMIAN

Katie and Damian were no strangers to each other before deciding to go on a date. They first met at Katie’s brother’s Mexican Bar in Richmond in 2017, and Damian was the beer rep for the bar. For a couple of years, they ran into each other on several occasions but at most engaged in small talk. It wasn’t until Grand Final day of 2018, when Collingwood (Damian’s team) lost the final to West Coast that he came to the bar Katie was at, the same one where they first met. Katie made fun of the fact that Collingwood lost and this is how they became inseparable. At the end of the evening, they agreed to go on a date the following Wednesday, at Miss Frankie in Richmond.

The proposal was Nov 2021. Damian took Katie to Port Melbourne beach to walk their fur-baby Mack and got down on one knee. He always knew Katie didn’t want a flashy proposal – just an intimate moment between the two of them.

The planning process began with choosing the venue, which they wanted to be a winery. The plan was to secure the major vendors first, and they started with booking Mt Duneed Estate as it ticked all the boxes and even more, with no additional costs.

Next, Katie saw Miranda shoot a friend of hers wedding and fell in love with the energy and colours of her pictures but also with the photographer’s easy-going and fun personality. The videographer was also chosen due to his performance at a friend’s wedding and ability to capture the laughs and the most memorable moments.

Bels from Belco provided stunning work with flower arrangements, while the celebrant, Berit Kavanagh, was one of the bride’s longest friends. This enabled Berit to add a personal touch and make the ceremony the highlight of the day, as she knew the couple so well.
