Kelly and Daniel officially met at work in 2016. Daniel had seen Kelly on one of his friend’s social media pages and asked about her. So, one day he came in to do some paperwork at her work location and sat next to her. They spoke for what seemed hours. Kelly and Daniel knew there was something special about each other pretty much straight away, although they took a good year to officially start dating. In the end all it took was Daniel cooking her Mexican food and the rest was history.

The proposal was on January 31, 2022, in Palm Cove, Queensland. Daniel took Kelly to the very end of the beach, in front of the palm trees, to watch the sunset. It was a perfect, dream proposal. Daniel was taking some photos of Kelly with the sunset and as she walked back, she asked if he would like a photo to which he replied ‘yes, but first, will you marry me?’ and hopped on one knee. Her mouth dropped open and her first reaction was to laugh. Kelly just kept asking, ‘are you serious?’ over and over. Of course, she eventually got the word yes out! The moment was so beautiful, very Kelly and Daniel. They are both beach people at heart so it was the perfect setting.

The couple knew straight away they didn’t want a long engagement so almost as soon as they returned from holiday, they started looking online at wedding venues. They knew they wanted something by the beach so they organised some meetings at beach venues. RACV Torquay Resort was the second place they visited but fell in love straight away and knew it was the perfect location.

The event was a good mix of 125 friends and family and had a somewhat relaxed vibe but still modern and classic – very much their style. Kelly and Daniel had been to a few beautiful weddings over the last couple of years so they were lucky to also draw some inspiration from these.

Daniel’s suit was very classic, yet with a relaxed twist – double-breasted blazer, combined with a pair of linen pants and brown loafers.

Kelly was lucky enough to have her amazing brother-in-law make her dress. She gave him the vision and he created it and brought it to life. The dress was white silk, strapless with a thigh high split. For the ceremony, they paired it with detachable long sleeves so she was able to take them off after photos so she could dance freely. The outfit was elegant, modern and classic all in one. Her shoes were custom-made pink Manolo Blahnik Hangisi heels. Pink shoes were an important part of the brief because pink is Kelly’s favourite colour and she wanted to be able to wear them again.

The most memorable moment for Kelly was the whole experience of walking down the aisle. Having her dad by her side, crying happy tears, then turning the corner and first laying eyes on Daniel. Kelly was immediately calm and felt the happiest she had ever felt.

Kelly and Daniel wanted to spend their day with the people who are most important to them in their lives. Having everyone there, especially those who travelled a great distance to attend, was so special. The couple also just wanted everyone to enjoy themselves and have fun. The same goes for the planning – it should be fun, not stressful.
