MONIQUE + ZAC
PHOTOGRAPHY | MADELEINE KUKLYCH PHOTOGRAPHY
A match made in heaven – and on Bumble – Monique and Zac instantly connected through messages and then in person. From the beginning both felt at ease with one another as the conversations flowed smoothly and effortlessly, allowing their love to blossom.
When Zac decided to propose he set a plan in place so that Monique would wake up on the morning of her birthday and read the words “Will you marry me?” on the kitchen whiteboard, at which time Zac would drop to one knee.
Zac then spent a sleepless night worrying Monique would see the message before morning and ruin the big surprise, however his worry was unwarranted and in the end, it was Monique’s best birthday ever.
The couple were keen to marry quickly and set the date for six months’ time, which made planning the event a little stressful, however family and friends all chipped in to make the day happen.
Rocklea Farm made for the ideal venue as it provided Monique and Zac with everything they wanted – a rustic, low-key event for 40 people. The ceremony was livestreamed for friends and family interstate and overseas to share in the day.
Playing off the atmosphere of their venue and the season (autumn), Monique and Zac opted for lots of natural wood and Australian native flowers to respect the environment. They agreed to keep most things simple, but when it came to their outfits, it was a different story.
Monique’s Stella York gown was a subtle mermaid-style with a low back and sweetheart neckline. It included delicate, lace detailing and was speckled with sequins for a touch of sparkle. The neutral-coloured lining made the lace detail pop and an elegant lace train completed Monique’s dream bridal look.
Zac wore a three-piece Lord’s Design suit in Burgundy that included a contrasting tan waistcoat to match his tan boots. His tie was a burgundy floral design with gold, purple, navy and brown accents to match his outfit and the wedding’s overall colour scheme.
Keeping with the autumn, rustic theme, bridesmaids and groomsmen were dressed in brown, mocha and tan tones.
One of the couple’s most memorable moments was the First Look. Both were nervous and a little stressed in the lead up to the wedding but seeing each other before the ceremony made all the nerves and worry disappear. Including their fur-baby Sultana in the First Look was a special touch.
As for the first dance, the couple snuck away from their guests to share a romantic moment under the fairy lights, dancing to If you ever leave I’m coming with you by The Wombats.
Monique and Zac’s advice to newly engaged couples is have the wedding you want because you’ll remember it for the rest of your lives – and you don’t want any regrets.
Also make lists – they are essential to planning. It may not seem like everything will come together but just take it one task at a time and trust the process. It will all work out in the end.
