SHERIDAN + TIM

Sheridan and Tim met at the Grovedale Football Club. They both have slightly different memories of when they met. Tim remembers it as an 80s function, Sheridan remembers it as ‘the worst day of his life’ after they lost the Grand Final. Clearly, that was not the time when Tim made an impression on her.

The couple got engaged in October 2020 at the top of the cliff on her dad’s property in Clifton Springs. Tim wanted to do something at home as Sheridan’s mum had passed away and he thought it would be nice to do it where lots of great memories are.

The couple started the wedding planning by discussing what they loved about all the various weddings they had been to and added in all the best parts. Sheridan managed to book all the big vendors quite quickly and even found both her dresses not long after deciding to get married. From there it was relatively stress-free – although she didn’t get much help from Tim. She also wanted to use as many local vendors as possible to help support all the businesses that have had it tough the last couple of years.

For the 135-guest wedding, Sheridan wanted to have lots of colour to help create a fun and epic vibe. She couldn’t say she had a certain person or wedding as her main source of inspiration but she had seen the overhead streamers that Sally from Style Our Party does and HAD to have that look.

Sheridan ended up with two dresses as she managed to get them on sale. She was super excited to have them both with a low back as she had previously never been able to wear that style. They were so different to each other – she loved it. The bride also chose to wear bright orange shoes, something a bit fun. Further, she let her bridesmaids choose their own dresses as a few of them had recently had babies and Sheridan wanted them to be nice and comfortable. She put together a little mood board for them with neutral/goldy tones and they did their thing from there.

Tim was keen to wear a green suit, something a bit different. They chose black ties, pants and shoes as they found it looked better than a neutral. Finally, they had Australian native floral bouquets to help tie it all together.

The most memorable moment is hard for the couple to choose! For Sheridan, it was walking back down the aisle with their daughter Aria, getting on the dancefloor and surprising Tim with her second dress. For Tim, it was when Aria came down the aisle with his sister Alyce and then when Sheridan came down with her sister Shea and her dad John. Second to that – the dancefloor. It went off.

For Sheridan, the most important thing on the wedding day was honouring her mum, Kerry. It’d been nine years since her passing but it was really important to Sheridan that she had a strong presence on the day. The bride chose Australian native flowers as they were her mother’s favourites. They also had cocktail hour at her parents’ house which meant a lot to Sheridan – and also to her dad. It was also important they had Aria there and included her where they could. For Tim, the most important thing was that all their friends and family enjoyed the day and that Matt brought the rings and they got married.

Sheridan advises engaged couples to try and not stress about the small details. A few times she had to remind herself that no one really cares what the small things look like. She also recommends looking at it like they did – what have you loved about weddings you’ve been to?
